It was one such evening, a spotlight on the square of stage in the middle of Berlin’s most revered gallery. My performance was to portray the secret desires, the forbidden yearnings, like a door slightly ajar, revealing hidden, potent impulses. The room held a seductive hush, the anticipation palpable.
